The painting was created during the art residency “Aura of the city. Checkpoint” in Starobilsk, Ukraine, and is dedicated to the women of the city, who wail over the men who have died in the war. The bicycle is the symbol of Starobilsk, and the basket with apples symbolizes femininity, maturity, and fertility. The apples fall onto the ground and germinate with blood. In the sky – the eyes of mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, who lament their men, killed in the war. When the tears come onto the ground, they turn into fertilizer.
