Nazar Voitovich Art Residency
1 – 15 June 2019
Travneve village, Ternopil region, Ukraine
The program was initiated in the frameworks of the project “Honors for Heroes” by the public organizations “Congress of Culture Activists” and “Family of “Heavenly Hundred Heroes” in 2017.
The program takes place annually and is supported by the Circle of Friends of the Project, the public organization “Center of Development for Youth “Mist” (“The Bridge”), Ternopil Regional State Administration, Zbarazh City Council, National Reserve “Castles of Ternopil region” on the honor of the youngest Hero of the Heavenly Hundred, who gave his name to the residency.
The program resulted in the project named “The Narrative about Freedom.” The exposition is composed of 6 mystical paintings and graphical series. The ideas for the artworks were collected from the authentic context of Travneve village. The artworks are endowed with symbolic meanings with a cross-cutting theme of philosophical reflections on responsibility and freedom.
The young artists, who were working in the common studio and living in common space for 2 weeks, created in collaboration the mysterious reality, full of actual challenges to the modern world – “The Narrative about Freedom.”
The team of the project practices a unique method of commemoration by inspiring young artists, creating conditions for their development, and providing opportunities to fulfill the projects about actual social challenges.
