Art residency “February_2 February_10. Аbout the war that is still going on"
5 - 12 February 2024
Ukrainian People's House
Przemysl, Poland
The event "February_2_February_10" was very important for us. The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for two years now, and with the dramatic events of February 2014 on the Independence Square in Kyiv, it has been going on for 10 years. This is an incredibly difficult decade in the history of Ukraine, of Ukrainian women and men who, despite everything, remain courageous and defend their position with their heads held high.
It is extremely difficult to talk about the ongoing war. However, we feel that it is necessary to talk about it - for the sake of the world's attention and also to avoid suppressing our pain and loss. Talking about the war, especially about how it changes us, what it cannot change, and what we will be like when it finally ends, somehow anchors us in reality. This conversation also shows that we are not alone in this tragedy. That we can count on each other, constantly, always. And also that we can create in spite of everything - thus defending our own identity.
Ukrainian culture during the war is a separate and extremely important form of resistance, as well as the courage to work with trauma. This is of great importance to us.
