On February 24, the anniversary of russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Cherkasy Art Museum opened an exhibition of the international art action Volnanova. The event is dedicated to the heroic resistance of the Ukrainian people against the russian invaders in the russian-Ukrainian war and the future prosperity of Ukraine.
The purpose of the art event is to unite the efforts of the cultural and educational community on the cultural and information front in the fight against russian aggression to draw the attention of the entire civilized world to the problem of war and to support the high morale of the Ukrainian people, to fulfill the cultural front's professional mission.
The event was attended by representatives of regional and city authorities, representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the creative and academic community. At the beginning of the event, the audience was shown a video retrospective of the events of the year that Ukrainians experienced in the face of full-scale armed russian aggression. During the screening, painful memories brought tears to many people's eyes.
"Throughout this difficult year, each of us has been working in his or her place to bring victory closer. I am grateful to everyone who reliably held their front. To our defenders, who protect every meter of our land. To our rescuers and the entire security forces, who are always on guard for the safety of our Cherkasy region and the whole of Ukraine. Our volunteers who never get tired of helping. To our doctors and educators, entrepreneurs and farmers, our power engineers who did not allow the russians to plunge us into darkness. Together, we are making small steps to bring Ukraine's victory closer," Ihor Taburets, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration, addressed the audience.
In his speech, Cherkasy Mayor Anatoliy Bondarenko recalled lines from a poem by Ukrainian poet Lina Kostenko: "History is written on a table. We write with blood on our land".
After that, the participants of the event were able to see the works of the Volnanova art action. The exhibition featured works in two categories: ART (painting, animation, illustration, photography, mixed media) and design (poster, motion graphics, typography, experimental design). The exhibition features 82 printed copies of artworks, most of which are design posters.
