exhibition of the results of art residency Bakota Hub
11 July 2024
Horayivka village, Ukraine
On Thursday, we held a large-scale event in our Bakota Hub space in the village of Horayivka.
At the event, we presented our project and the results of the Bakota Hub art residency, during which 15 visual artists came to the village of Horayivka and created their works here for two weeks. The focus of the residency was the theme of resettlement. The artists worked both with their own experience of displacement as a result of the war and reflected on the local context, as the local people were also forced to move to Horayivka in the 1980s when Bakota and neighboring villages were flooded. They reproduced the results of these reflections in their works, which became the basis for the exhibition that we opened that day in the Bakota Hub space.
Residents of the village of Horayivka attended the event - people of completely different ages and interests. The Grzegorzewski brothers, the authors of the famous song about Bakota, also performed at the event and added a special atmosphere to the evening. It was a true small holiday for the village of Horayivka.
